The Dubai Public Library, under the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated Authority for culture and heritage, has announced the start of its annual summer programme themed, 'Be Creative, Be Innovative' with a wide array of educational and entertainment experiences for children aged 6 to 12 years. The new programme titled, 'Our Summer is Culture' will be held from July 26 to August 20, 2015.
Dubai Public Library has teamed up with various organisations to host fun-filled workshops, training sessions, and competitions to enrich the learning experience of children during summer. Providing a refreshing outlook that will expand their horizons and enhance their creativity, the summer programme also includes interactive and entertaining scientific educational programmes that will instil in their minds curiosity and a spirit of innovation.
In addition, the summer programme includes Art Ronix, which focuses on the integration of arts and electronics through building towns and amusements attractions; Dino Art, a global art programme based on observation that helps develop skills and creative imagination capabilities; a special session for building robots to encourage children on teamwork and scientific thinking; Rubik Cube to promote analytical abilities in kids; Little Engineer Programme that provides the basics of electrical engineering; and art workshops on innovative arts, crafts and many more.
Abdulrahman Al Ibrahim, Head of Dubai Public Library at the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority said: "This summer, Dubai Public Library is organising exciting educational opportunities that have been specially developed to suit the interests and needs of our children. Promoting innovative learning, these activities will enable our children not only to appreciate the beauty of the written word but also instil in them a scientific and curious mind set, thus encouraging the spirit of innovation.
"Creativity and innovation are central to the vision for Dubai's development envisaged by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. We are therefore focused on nurturing these in the children, who are the citizens of the future. Through such initiatives, the Dubai Public Library will continue to serve as a crucial platform for talent development and intercultural dialogue."
The activities will be held at Dubai Public Libraries in Al Twar, Al Rashidya, Hor Al Anz, Al Safa, Al Mankhool, Umm Suqeim Electronic Library, and Hatta.
The Dubai Public Library is open to the public from 4am to 7pm from Sunday to Thursday, with entrance free of charge for members and AED 500 for non-members.
