The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated entity for heritage, arts and culture, will bring a city-wide showcase of art and cultural events to mark the third edition of the Dubai Art Season during March and April.
The two-month Dubai Art Season is the definitive initiative that aims to highlight the city's global credentials in the arts scene, and brings together artists from around the world for an unmatched celebration of talent, creativity, innovation and cultural diversity.
The third Dubai Art Season will be headlined by the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature that complements the '2016 - Year of Reading' marked by the UAE, and arts and cultural activities at The Dubai Mall and workshops as part of the Dubai Food Festival.
This will be followed by the SIKKA Art Fair, the Middle East's first-of-its-kind entirely commissioned visual arts and performing arts programme that will include GCC-based artists for the first time this year. The Dubai Culture initiative will highlight regional talents and the newest trends in the Gulf region's arts and cultural landscape.
Dubai Art Season also celebrates Art Dubai, the leading international arts fair in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region; and Design Days Dubai, the region's largest fair dedicated to collectible and limited edition design objects.
The arts and cultural activations as part of the Dubai Art Season will be held at venues including the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai, Jumeirah Beach Residences, The Beach, City Walk, Dubai World Trade Centre, Al Serkal Avenue, Kite Beach, Box Park and Dubai International Airport, among others. The full calendar of activities will be announced in due course.
A dedicated Dubai Culture App will enable visitors to effortlessly access the cultural destinations in the city during Dubai Art Season 2016 and learn more about the ongoing activities.
