Dubai Public Art 2025 - Education Programme: Shaping the Future of Public Art in the UAE

Dubai Public Art 2025- Education Programme is a dedicated programme that provides Emirati and UAE-based artists, designers and architects with a platform to explore the realm of public art, building sector knowledge and practitioner capability in the rapidly developing field of public art commissioning. The programme will be delivered in partnership between Dubai Culture and Art Dubai under the Dubai Public Art initiative.

The programme will consist of two distinct tracks:

Dubai Public Art 2025 - Core Education Programme is designed for a select group of Emirati and UAE-based emerging and established artists, designers and architects looking to further their understanding and gain experience in the field. This is done through a series of seminars and workshops from art-world professionals and mentorship by industry leaders who will provide expert guidance and help develop participants’ artistic capability in relation to public art commissioning. This will be followed by inviting the artists to create projects for potential public artworks.

The course will be composed of talks, seminars and hands-on workshops starting in February 2025 and will have the following objectives:

• ●Understand the history and evolution of public art.
• ●Explore different forms and mediums of public art (murals, sculptures, installations, performance art, etc.).
• ●Develop critical thinking skills regarding the role of public art in society.
• ●Learn the process of creating public art proposals and collaborating with communities.
• ●Gain practical skills in project management, fundraising, and legal considerations for public art projects.
• ●Create a final public art project proposal with potential commissioning opportunities.

The deadline to apply to the Dubai Public Art 2025 - Core Education Programme is 10 February 2025, and the programme will commence on Saturday, 22 February 2025.

Dubai Public Art 2025-Community Education Programme – Dubai Culture and Art Dubai will host monthly Community Education programming featuring industry leaders and specialists, offering insights into the creative process, commissioning, and curating of public art, and fostering community engagement. These sessions are open to all students, creative enthusiasts, and artists.
