Library Talks Series Explores How Reading Impacts Children

Dubai Culture will host a session titled ‘The Role of Reading in Shaping a Child’s Thinking’ at Al Rashidiya Public Library on 8 May. The talk, moderated by writer Sabah Deebi, will bring together writer and translator Samar Mahfouz Barraj, author and poet Amal Farah, and Author Eman Al Yousif, who will explore how storytelling shapes child development and the ways families can nurture a love of reading.
Samar Mahfouz Barraj will also lead a ‘Translating Children’s Literature’ workshop on 9 and 10 May at Al Safa Art & Design Library. Participants will learn the fundamentals of translating literature for young readers, how it differs from general literary translation, and the techniques best suited to different age groups.
