11 new books released at Reading Box 2022 | Dubai Culture
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) continues its campaign of knowledge sharing through Reading Box, an initiative under the 'School of Life' initiative. The activities are being held at City Centre Mirdif, taking the audience on an educational journey with panel discussions, new book readings and interactive workshops. Through schemes like this, the Authority wishes to cement Dubai's position as a sustainable global city for culture, arts and literature.
Reading Box 2022 events will continue until 28 October with the launch of 11 new books, four of which are in English and the rest in Arabic, covering different types of literature and knowledge, through which Dubai Culture seeks to motivate greater public engagement with the written word.
These new books, the highlighting of which is in line with the National Literacy Strategy 2016-2026 aimed at promoting cultural values in society, were diverse, and include chef Nigel Lobo’s ‘Insight’, where he talks about the journey to becoming a chef; author Zelmaré Viljoen’s ‘Just Imagine,’ taking kids on a trip through storytelling with yoga; Emirati poet Maryam Wajdi’s ‘The Repertoire of Being,’ taking the audience into a mystic trail through memory, thoughts, love and the inner deep soul, charting her story on how she had taken the road to poetry; and author Darren Taylor’s ‘Panda-Monium’ bringing his own experiences of being a parent to life where he hopes that many of our Children’s problems can be identified and solved through the stories.
The activities of Reading Box 2022 take place from 10a.m. to 10p.m. at City Centre Mirdif, offering discussions and readings presented by a group of additional Emirati and resident writers, including Khadijah Kudsi, Naouel Chaoui, Sharavati Choksi and Zeeshahn Fezi.
