Dubai Culture is presenting a series of training and interactive workshops under the Dubai Performing Arts Programme in August and September 2024. This initiative aims to discover and nurture the skills and passions of talented individuals in the field of theatre.

Held at the Dubai National Theatre, the programme includes three specialised training workshops in scenography, lighting, and sound led by a distinguished group of theatre professionals and performing arts experts.

The Scenography workshop, taking place from 24 August to 30 September, will enable theatre enthusiasts to explore the significance of scenography and its role in theatrical performances. Participants will learn about its elements and aesthetic and functional effects, as well as the components of the stage, its entrances, and the audiovisual means used. Participants in the Sound Techniques workshop, held on 8 and 9 September, will learn the basics of sound, its properties, types, layers, and its uses in theatrical performances, while the Lighting Techniques workshop, scheduled for 13 and 15 September, aims to familiarise participants with different types of theatrical lighting, their functions, and their impact on other elements as well as how to design lighting according to the requirements of the performance.
