With the advent of the date harvest season, Dubai Culture is organizing the third Summer Blessings, highlighting the significance of the palm tree and its place in local culture, while showcasing the traditions and customs associated with it that have long formed part of everyday life in Emirati society.

Taking place at Al Shindagha Museum, the UAE’s largest heritage museum, from 24 to 26 July, the event will feature a range of interactive workshops and experiences led by heritage specialists. At the Visitors’ Centre, guests can participate in the ‘Finyan Al-Ezz’ and ‘Karb Decorating’ workshops, during which they can design coffee cups adorned with palm-inspired motifs and transform palm fronds into innovative artistic creations, all in an experience that celebrates creativity and traditional craftsmanship.

The Culture of the Sea pavilion will host a soap-making workshop introducing visitors to traditional techniques using oud, roses, natural herbs, and palm-tree-inspired molds. Meanwhile, at the Date Tasting Corner in the Traditional Food House, guests will explore the different varieties of Emirati dates, discover their uses in traditional cuisine, and learn about the secrets of date syrup (dibs) production and preservation, alongside a batheetha-making culinary experience. The programme will also feature a series of ‘Knowledge Sharing on the Tree of Life’ sessions at the Al Sadu House, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience that introduces them to the richness of Emirati heritage and traditions.
