- 05:15-08: 30 PM Thursday
- Registration Required
As part of its ‘Library Talks’ initiative, under the ‘Schools of Life’ project, Dubai Culture is organising a session titled ‘What Action Can We Take to Support a Reading Community?’ featuring authors Huda Al Shawa and Hamda Al Blooshi, as well as cultural researcher Israa Al Mulla. Taking place at Etihad Museum on 10 September and moderated by children's author and media personality Duja Bin Faraj, the session will explore the role of the community in fostering a culture of reading and encouraging it as an integral part of everyday life.
The initiative’s programme will also feature the ‘Using Myth in Young Adult Literature’ workshop, led by Huda Al Shawa from 11 to 13 September at Al Safa Art & Design Library. The workshop will take participants on a creative journey exploring the role of mythology in young adult literature and its potential as a source of inspiration for short-story writing. Participants will be introduced to key elements of creative writing, including character development, plot construction, and crafting effective endings, culminating in a short-story draft inspired by mythology.
