Our summer is art and culture

This summer, children in the emirate of Dubai are all set to embark on a new journey to explore the world of art and culture, equipped with knowledge and laced with fun and prepare themselves take up the challenges of the future.

 

Dubai Culture & Arts Authoritys annual summer camp themed Our summer is art & culture is a unique package of advanced and innovative programs. Apart from igniting creativity and familiarising children with the important elements of culture and tradition, it features workshops and sessions on modern trends of artificial intelligence and innovation.

 

The summer camp is carefully designed to blend the culture and science with arts and entertainment and it seeks to stimulate the creative thinking of the children through specialised interactive workshops, and creative art and scientific activities. It seeks to develop the skills of the children in scientific research, rhetoric, reading, and writing in an engaging atmosphere.

 

Children from 6 to 12 years old are invited to participate and choose the suitable camp

 

Second Camp: 14th -25th July 2019

Evening: 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm

First Camp: 14th -25th July 2019

Morning: 10:00 am to 1:30 pm

 

FourthCamp: 28st July - 8st August 2019

Evening: 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm

First & Second Camp:

Young inventors program (6-9 years)

Your city - Now & Future

Through a city map, participants will use advanced thinking abilities to create their own navigation maps based on destinations in the city where they live.

Create Moving Masterpieces

A fun workshop will let the participants explore the skills of research, arts, robotics, and programming.

Mechanics in Nature &Things

The program aims to help children understand the world around them, by observing the nature and developing their sense of curiosity. It allows them to learn about the mechanics found in nature and in things around them.

Create your Music Band

The children in this will learn to design their own electronic musical instrument with concepts like playing with variables.

Begin your Artificial Intelligence Journey

An interactive and engaging activity, here children will learn about artificial intelligence, as well as cognition and automated learning. They can also explore how the interaction between humans and artificial intelligence happens.

3D Engineer a Bridge

The design and construction of structures such as bridges will enable participants to recognize different lengths, heights, forces, motion and gravity as they will learn to draw with 3D pen.

Media literacy - Weather Report

Participants will learn to work in a weather team and understand the intricacies of their work in different parts of the world. This session will make use of green screen technology.

Digital Art by Code

This activity will combine artistic skills with programming and teaches participants how to create digital art that expresses their creativity.

 

First & Second Camp:

Future Pioneers Program (10-12 years)

Creative writing

The program will seek to inspire and encourage children to appreciate literature, learn creative aspects of writing, identify types of writing, and practice its use.

Artificial Intelligence - Present & Future

This session will aim to introduce participants to the automatic learning, big data and neural networks through interactive activities. It intends to highlight the idea of ​​machines being capable of thinking, acting, and learning like humans.

Sketching from Biology

The program will motivate children to learn about the world around them and explore the hidden world of micro-organisms.

Characters in Happy Land

The participants will work together to create robots to pick up their favorite cartoon characters and design a program to control them.

Code for Pitch & Octaves

In this session, the participants will learn programming using Python, the language of the future, by creating their own musical instrument.

Robo-Sphere Hockey in a Maze

This workshop will aim to introduce the participants to basic computer programming techniques, using an interactive maze wherein the users will cross obstacles and chase their goal.

Design your Dream Home

The program will intend to teaching and developing basic concepts, and create awareness of architectural designs. It also explores the appropriate building materials that are used in modern architecture.

Manufacturing - Molding

In this session, the participants will use a manufacturing device to create a variety of molds, in different designs.

Toy Take Apart

Here, kids will identify how integrated circuits work, explore the physics of behind them, and learn about the importance of designing and the purpose of devices.

Third & Fourth Camp:

Young inventors program (6-9 years)

Robots in Space Travel

Through a unique space map, participants will learn about algorithms, logical thinking and programming, with a simple robot that can be controlled without directions from the computers.

Robot Petting Zoo

This is fun challenge designed to create a pet-shaped robot that aims to delight and inspire zoo visitors.

Build a Rube Goldberg Machine

Children in this workshop will get to explore some scientific and engineering concepts in an innovative, attractive, and fun way by building a simple catapult to practice design and construction skills.

 

Create a Feedback System and Makey it

Here participants will learn about creating a survey system, collecting data, and replicating systems.

 

Begin your Artificial Intelligence Journey

This session will introduce the participants to artificial intelligence in an attractive, interactive, and engaging activity. It also highlights the interaction between human and artificial intelligence.

3D Pen Fibonacci Patterns

This activity will enable participants to learn about the golden Ratio in real life, and use a 3D pen to create Fibonacci patterns.

Media Literacy News Reader

Using a green screen to showcase a news report. in this session participants will understand how media teams work how they search, write and then finally broadcast with a news anchor on screen.

Collaborative Digital Art

This activity will combine artistic creativity with programming, where participants are allowed to create a digital art that represents their collaborative and creative expressions in pixel art method.

Third & Fourth Camp:

Future Pioneers Program (10-12 years)

Pitop for Python Coding

Here, participants will make use of a computer to change the world around them, by inventing projects and learning Python with an interactive game.

 

Robo-Sphere - Fitness for a Nations Race

In this session, participants will learn about fitness and its importance in life with programming and playing.

 

Inside your Electronics

This workshop will seek to encourage children to learn things by disassembling everyday electronic devices and understand what they are made of.

Design your Dream City

The program will explain basic building concepts for participants, and raises awareness of urban design.

Artificial Intelligence

This session will aim to introduce participants to the automatic learning, big data and neural networks through interactive activities. It intends to highlight the idea of ​​machines being capable of thinking, acting, and learning like humans.

Manufacturing - Casting

The participants in this session will uncover the intricacies of creating molds and manufacturing various products from them.

Creative Writing

The program will seek to inspire and encourage children to appreciate literature, learn creative aspects of writing, identify types of writing, and practice its use.

Design Thinking & Bio Mimicry

This program focuses on developing skills of cooperation, problem solving and research based on helping people of determination.

Microscopic World of Biology

This activity will provide the participants with the opportunity to learn about microbiology and enable them to distinguish between different microorganisms.
