Sikka Art Fair 2019, Dubai Culture’s flagship event and one of the main initiatives under the Dubai Art Season umbrella, will take place from March 16-24 in Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.
For its 9th edition SIKKA 2019 will bring together a selection of emerging regional talents who were asked to develop their artistic research around the theme ‘An Open window to Art and Tolerance’ in line with the program of cultural tolerance promoted by the UAE Government for year 2019.
Over the past years SIKKA has come to be the ultimate platform for Emirati and UAE-based artists to work and engage with their international counterparts. The Fahidi Neighborhood, which attracted around 60,000 visitors in 2018, is transformed for the occasion into a creative, distinctive hub of curated artist spaces.
Designed to promote dialogue, awaken curiosity and stimulate thinking,
the vibrant 9 day programme will include art exhibitions and installations, visual and performing artists, music and film screenings, workshops, poetry and talks, alongside with home-grown food pop-ups.
For the first time this year Sikka Art Fair will offer two distinctive but intertwined experiences: Sikka by day, celebrating the Al Fahidi tenants, the neighborhood and their art exhibitions and installations;
Sikka by night, hosting multiple cultural activations brought together by some of the most dazzling operators and individuals within the local creative scene.
