Organized for the first time by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the Pottery Festival is considered an important event on the artistic agenda that is anticipated by art and culture enthusiasts, attracting a wide audience of different age groups. This event aims to realise the Authority's vision for Dubai to become a cosmopolitan, creative, and sustainable city of culture, heritage, arts, and literature. The Pottery Festival demonstrates that vision through creativity and art by way of materials and decorations used in making pottery, a timeless profession that has maintained over the past centuries and adapted over the years despite its decline in some places.
We, therefore, hope that through this festival we will breathe new life into this craft by encouraging artisans to practice and give it a distinctive cultural, touristic, and marketing impression as hand-made products to preserve the profession from extinction.
This festival will resemble a journey to the past that will reveal the types of pottery, its stages of development, and its old uses. It will also grant visitors of different nationalities the opportunity to experience pottery-making and will familiarise children with this profession through workshops, allocating a corner to a pottery library where everything related to the craft is displayed.
