Dubai Culture puts spotlight on city’s heritage at ‘Dubai Tour 2016’


Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) the Emirate's dedicated entity for heritage, arts and culture, celebrated the UAE's rich heritage at one of the leading cycling events of the season, 'Dubai Tour 2016'.
Dubai Culture, in collaboration with RCS Sports and Dubai Sports Council, provided the cyclists and visitors a glimpse into the UAE's glorious heritage through its participation at the Dubai Tour 2016.
A dedicated tent set up at the Dubai International Marine Club in Jebel Ali gave insights on the UAE's cultural heritage and history with showcases of traditional Emirati delicacies, to local performances and arts and crafts making.
Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: "The presence of Dubai Culture at Dubai Tour 2016 is in line with the objectives and the overall vision of the Authority to encourage constructive cooperation with the various events hosted by the City giving residents and visitors a glimpse into the UAE's rich heritage.  We will always continue to support the vision of our leadership that aims to extend the bridges of an intercultural dialogue across various cultures and civilizations."
The public were invited to learn about Emirati cloth making, henna designing, stitching, and the preparation of kohl. Visitors also watched Emirati folklore performance;  Al Ayala dance.
