SIKKA Arts Festival is a 11-day celebration of art, live performances, homegrown food concepts, music, film, workshops, and more.
Dubai, UAE, 12 February 2020: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has launched an open call for volunteers of the 10th anniversary of SIKKA Art Festival (SIKKA) that is taking place 19 – 29 March in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.
The festival is the flagship initiative of Dubai Art Season, which is being held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture. It is an eleven-day celebration of art, live performances, homegrown food concepts, music, film, workshops, and more that aligns with Dubai Culture’s efforts to encourage voluntary and community work as well as nurture social responsibility among members of society.
The Authority is seeking volunteers to enjoy the celebrations and assist with on-ground support during SIKKA 2020. As one of the most anticipated art events of the year, the volunteers would be contributing to the growth of the arts and culture scene in the Emirate while also fulfilling the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the city into a regional cultural hub.
Volunteers are asked to register their interest on Dubai Culture’s website. The participating hours will be on a rotating basis 11am – and 4 – 10pm on weekdays, and 4pm – 12am on weekends. Following their participation, volunteers will be awarded a certificate of participation to thank them for their help and cooperation as well as aid them in their future careers.
SIKKA 2020 is considered the most prominent event within the activities of the seventh edition of Dubai Art Season that instils Dubai with creativity through visual arts, theatrical and musical films, and singing. SIKKA is taking place this year under the slogan ‘Dreamers,’ whereby the Authority has opened the door to emerging artistic talents in the UAE and the GCC to participate in this special session of the festival to unleash their dreams and express their passion and innovative artistic visions.
SIKKA 2020 is taking place at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood with a rich programme for children and adults of different nationalities and cultures, while also bringing together artists, visitors, tourists, and family members in one place, within a festive festival full of joy and happiness.
