Dubai Culture Launches a Collection of Musical Performances as Part of Its New Melodies of HappinessInitiative

The initiative was activated in Port Rashid in conjunction with the reception of 6,000 visitors aboard one of the largest passenger ships in the world

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 12 November 2017: Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirates dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has launched Music from Around the World in Dubai, a happiness initiative that centres on a collection of musical performances from different cultures across the globe.

In addition to fulfilling its mandate to spread happiness among all citizens, visitors and residents of Dubai, the Authority also sought to organise creative shows involving young people and celebrities who have influenced the city with their arts. The performances took place in different parts of the city to allow the largest number of viewers to witness them.

Moza Suwaidan, Director of Projects & Events at Dubai Culture, commented: "We cordially invited everyone to participate and enjoy this unique initiative, which primarily aimed to spread happiness and positivity among various segments of society through all kinds of music, which is a language of unity among people."

The new initiative highlights Dubai Cultures endeavour to make happiness one of the cornerstones of its daily work. In addition to promoting a culture of happiness and positivity through its various initiatives and activities, and inspiring its employees to enhance their efforts in the arts and culture sectors by launching new events and projects, the Authority is also furthering the vision of the leadership to make Dubai a city of happy, creative and empowered individuals.

Suwaidan added: "Our new initiative has undoubtedly matched the wishes of members of the public from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. As we at Dubai Culture take responsibility for spreading the UAE's culture and arts, and for increasing knowledge about them among residents and visitors, we have chosen Port Rashid to be one of the important sites for the activation of this initiative."

Port Rashid served as an ideal backdrop for the Melodies of Happinessinitiative, particularly because at 8:00am on 2nd November it became the docking location for an AIDA ship, which is one of the largest passenger cruisers in the world and brought over six thousand international travellers to Dubai. Dubai Culture played a special role at the event, which was also overseen by DP World in line with its size and significance.

The Authority became the first partner to implement the Dubai Happiness Agendain May 2016, after entering into a partnership with Smart Dubai to lead the cultural transformation of the city through programmes and projects aimed at building awareness and inspiration among individuals and companies, and encouraging the city to prioritise happiness.

Dubai Culture is committed to enriching the cultural landscape, sharing its Arab heritage, building bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilizations and cultures, and contributing to constructive social and charitable initiatives for the benefit of the citizens and residents of Dubai alike.
