Curated tours form a bridge between past and present

It is on the shores of Dubai Creek area that the citys true foundations are found. Al Shindagha is where visitors can experience the vibrant history of Dubai and through a series of curated tours presented by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority for Al Shindagha Days, these stories come to life. Due to public demand, Al Shindagha Days is now extended for two additional days welcoming visitors until January 20, 2020.

Dubai Creek Birth of A City

Dubai Creek Pavilion tells the universal tale of human innovation, resilience, and the desire for progress, which shaped the Dubai we know today. Thanks to its geographical position and natural resources, Dubai is currently one of the most important trading cities in the world that has existed as a trading hub for over 5,000 years. This compelling tale of trade is played out in innovative, interactive and fascinating presentations inside Al Shindagha Museum. The museum also highlights Dubais shared heritage with the region and wider world.

The Perfume House

Discover the story behind Emirati fragrance and indulge in the enticing world of Emirati perfume making with a tour of The Perfume House. Allow all your senses to be stimulated and delighted in the realm of exotic Emirati fragrance, while delving into the skills that bring them to life. Showcasing traditional techniques for making scented oils and perfumes that date back centuries, The Perfume House takes visitors on an aromatic journey to learn about ancient traditions while exploring some unusual ingredients.

Etihad Museum

This building, designed in the shape of a manuscript, with seven columns built into the museum to resemble the pens used to sign the original declaration that united the UAE in 1971, the Etihad Museum tells the story of the formation of the UAE. It collects, preserves, and displays the countrys heritage in the areas of social, political, cultural, scientific, and military history including personal effects from the founding fathers as well as an interactive map highlighting the era before the formation of the federation. Also, on show in the museum is a display dedicated to the UAEs Founding Fathers, including a rare collection of their personal belongings as well as the UAE Constitution and the actual declaration itself.

Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood

The traditional style of life that was prevalent in Dubai from the mid 19th century till the 1970s is reflected at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, where buildings with high air towers (barajeel), constructed with traditional materials are separated by alleys, pathways and public squares, which give the district a natural and beautiful diversity.
The buildings are currently used for varied cultural and artistic activities ranging from art galleries, specialised museums and cultural centres. A visit to Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the old way of life and to appreciate the architecture that reveal details and character about the way people used to live on the shores of the Creek.
